Why more Australian builders and homeowners are moving rangehood and exhaust fan ducting to the eaves: no holes in the roof, a cleaner roofline, and a roof left free for solar.
The smartest place to vent a rangehood might not be the roof at all
For decades, the default way to vent a rangehood or exhaust fan was straight up through the roof. It works, but it means cutting holes in the most weather-exposed surface of the home, then flashing and sealing every one of them.
Eaves venting takes a different path. Ducting runs through the roof space and out through a purpose-designed vent fitted flush into the eaves.
Why penetrate the roof when you can vent the eaves?
Every roof penetration needs to be cut, flashed, sealed and maintained, and each one is a potential leak point for the life of the home. On top of that, a vent sticking out of the roof interrupts the roofline and takes up space that solar installers increasingly want.
Where the design of the home allows it, venting through the eaves removes the roof from the equation for bathroom, toilet, laundry and rangehood exhaust applications.
No roof penetrations
No cutting through the roof, no flashing, no sealant, and no new path for water to find its way in.
A cleaner roofline
Nothing pokes through the roof. The vent sits flush in the eaves, out of sight from the street.
Solar-ready roof
Eaves venting keeps the roof free of exhaust vent penetrations, leaving more space for solar panels.
Fast, repeatable fit-off
One cut-out size, one method, every home. Trades know exactly where each vent goes before the sheets go on.
Pest and weather protection
Fine mesh keeps insects and vermin out, and the Zincalume construction is built for harsh Australian conditions.
Australian made and owned
Designed and manufactured locally in Malaga, Western Australia.
Planned from the frame stage
On a new build, eaves venting is designed in from the start. The 150mm ducting is pre-laid through the boxed eave while the frame is open, ready for fit-off once the eaves sheets go on.
DVA supplies cut-out templates so every opening is prepared the same way: positioned 100mm from the wall and centred between the fixing nails. One cut-out size, 205 × 372mm, suits both the EV200 and EV400.
The same vent, the same cut-out and the same method, repeated on every home.
Two Vents. One Simple System.
The DVA eaves venting range covers the whole home with two purpose-designed vents: one for single fans and rangehoods, one for high-volume or dual-fan applications.
Both share the same 205 × 372mm cut-out, the same fine-mesh pest protection and the same Australian-made Colourbond White , so ordering and installation stay simple.
